Aloha Friday

The weekend has approached us quickly and we are planning on enjoying some much needed beach days. Theres nothing like laying out at our favorite beaches on Maui Ho'okipa and Baldwin. With waterfall runs in between. Happy girls.

This Saturday evening we'll be attending (with the rest of the North Shore of Maui) a benefit at Casanovas, our local Italian bistro. A few of our friends have been busy organizing "Jam for Japan" to help raise money for tsunami/earthquake relief in Japan. There will be bands, DJ's, give aways, prizes, and drink specials. A great night for a great cause. Find all the info and details about the event here, including all the awesome sponsors and supporters.

We'll be day dreaming over the weekend of amazing work spaces that would bring inspiration and creative thoughts. Sigh........

birds of a feather

We've been seeing feathers everywhere as of late. On jewelry, graphics on t-shirts, head bands, even tattoos. But there's one new place we've been seeing them on the girls of Maui that's been spreading like wild fire...in their hair. Feather hair extensions have become the norm on these lovely ladies (we even see them when we look in the mirror :) The extensions are easy, affordable, and let you show a little of your boho side without going all out. We love this trend and it fits in perfectly with the easy going beach locks of the Maui girls.
You can be a feather sister too {or brother if you're into it} just go down to Paia and visit the girls at LoPhi. Located in the Paia Courtyard.

we heart street style

Nothing is more inspirational than street style. We could people watch for days. There's something about observing how everyday people dress to express themselves. This documentary about the famous street style photographer Bill Cunningham looks amazing and is at the top of our must watch list.

dress code

To be considered a true north shore girl of Maui there's a few essential wardrobe pieces that one must wear to be following the "dress code" and one of the most important pieces is a puka shell bangle. Worn either to one of your favorite beaches or dancing with the girls it's a timeless choice. A puka shell (meaning hole in Hawaiian) is a shell found on the beaches here that have just that, a hole in the center...perfect for wearing on a gold or silver bangle. Many claim to have originated the puka bangle but I'm not sure if we'll ever know who truly is the genius behind this simple yet classy trend. If you happen to see a beautiful girl with beach tousled hair donning a puka bangle chances are shes from the north shore of Maui.
